About The Lace Guild

Our Mission

The Lace Guild is the largest lace organisation in the United Kingdom and is an accredited museum with a large collection of lace and associated artefacts. We are dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of lacemaking while fostering innovation and excellence in contemporary lace arts.

Our Aims

  • To provide information about the craft of lacemaking, its history and use.
  • To promote a high standard of lacemaking.
  • To encourage the design, development and professional presentation of lace.

What We Do

Publications

We produce two quarterly magazines: Lace (64 pages of articles, community news and patterns) and Early Days in Lacemaking (30 pages of mostly easy patterns for novice lacemakers).

Education

We publish books of lace techniques and patterns, maintain an extensive library, and support lacemaking groups and teachers across the UK.

Museum

Our accredited museum houses an important collection of lace and associated artefacts, open to the public Wednesday through Saturday.

Community

We connect lacemakers across the UK through local groups, events, competitions, and our vibrant online community.
